What a cool place, went for the BBQ last Sunday with other 5 friends and we had a great time. The place is beautiful, It was packed but they managed to give us a table outside..lovely deck...I I call that great service as we didn't make a reservation but they were happy with that. The Jamaican Chicken Jerk was perfect, as I remembered from living in New York, where I tried few places before. We spent the afternoon, drinking cocktail, listening to the DJ's Caribbean Music and sharing the great BBQ food. The food is different but well executed and very affordable.(that is plus) Will be back soon, my recommendation for a relax afternoon with good food and music.

Not many places in Auckland have the character and heritage that we all love and try to protect. Well, Atico has it all, great food, cool deco and lovely food. It was our early start of the evening with some drinks including exoctic caipirinhas or something like that from Brazil, then the 10 of us tried almost every tantaliser on the menu, just perfect to start our Saurday night! our recommendation is the ceviches......you certantly want to come back just for them. Service probably needs a bit of tunning but in general a superb experience in the old VicPark Market that is coming back to be the place in town.

I decided to go after hearing that the Victoria Park Market has finally starting to open some shops. I went with a friend looking for the new shops and a quick bite to eat after work. The market was already closing with no many shops but already looking great. The building was in much need of a refresh and we think it would be a success and a point of difference. Anyway after checking the few shops, we went to Atico which is actually accessible from the street rather than the market. We started with a bottle of Teravin, beautiful wine. My companion ordered some tantalisers "small plates" to share. The ceviche with the fish of the day was different from expected as there is no coconut milk, nevertheless delicious. we had three more including chiken jerk, patatas bravas and cuban prawns which are to die for. Our mains follow with no disappointment, perfectly cooked steak and a very nice scallop salad. Skipping desert to allow for some coffees which I believe are from South America, perfect. Our quick bite to eat ended up being a long and relaxing dinner experience that I certainly will repeat some time soon.

I went with a group of friends last Friday for my birthday, we had a great time. The food was superb, very creative and full of flavours. The service, five starts and the best was the place itself. One of the coolest places in town, full of character and charm. It was quite busy and lots of people having after work drinks but we were able to enjoy our diner in the semi-private VIP room. Will recommend the Lomo Apanado and those jumbo prawns really nice! will come back again, it as great place for small or large groups.

We went on a Friday lunch, which around auckland is usually very busy, there were about 5 tables full,Cafe Rikka which used to be in this same location was always very busy at lunch, so I was surprised, only 5 tables were full. We had the seafood platter and empandas. The empandads were ok, I probably expected abit more flavour inside them. The seafood platter was tasty, alittle ordinary for $45, when I can go elsewhere and get a feast for $45. I noticed the mains were around $32 average. They also didn't look that great. We had a nice meal, but not memorable, and the language barrier had a little lost in translation, but wasn't a biggie. Would I go again? We had a voucher, so we could try it out, we're always on the lookout for new and exciting places. No, it wasn't the best value for money or that special, tastewise. Sorry guys, at those prices we'd expect better value.

After some mixed reviews we decided to give it a go. No regrets, excellent service and great food. We had a couple of tantalisers which were good enough for us, the chicken needs a bit more flavour but the ceviche is the best is long time. The mains were fantastic, best pork shops ever, wine list needs improving but is there is enough choice. Not enough room for dessert but will try next time. Worth a visit..for a new resturant in such as cool building.

After reading a few reviews on this newly-opened establishment, I was excited about the prospect of eating dinner here. It was a Monday night, the place was not busy - possibly four other small groups dining. We were taken to our table and told the waitress would be with us soon. About 10 minutes later, she arrived and presented us with menus. Some time after that, she returned and we placed our orders. I think the language barrier may have been quite large as she got quite confused with our simple order (two appetisers, two mains please) but we got there in the end. 50 minutes later and our meals had not arrived (nor had we been asked if we would like a drink other than water). We noticed a couple of the few other tables had also not got their food in that time. We asked the waitress when our food might be expected to arrive, given we felt we had been waiting ample time. She said she would find out for us. About five minutes later our appetizers arrived - the prawns (there were just 3) for $18 and the chicken jerk (3 small kebabs) for $12. The food was alright- the sauce on the prawn dish was tasty if not a little full on, the prawns were juicy - the chicken jerk you could give or take. Suddenly, our mains arrived. The much-anticipated signature dish - the Lomo Apanado (Chargrilled Prime Angus Beef marinated with fresh ground coffee and pepper, served with Spanish onions and spinach and potato, gratin with blue cheese and brandy sauce at $35) was, according to my friend, disappointing. The requested medium steak...while it came out hot, it was more than well done and was just a very small portion (perhaps it's meant to be that way!?). The remainder of the vegetables on the dish were bland. My chicken dish ($28 with rice, chorizo and capsicum) was very bland and dry. The chicken was tough, there were just two small pieces of capsicum in it and the rice tasted like it was from one of those 90sec microwave packs - the entire dish was dry and had me swallowing copious amounts of water just to get the food down. The highlight was the chorizo but the three small slices were probably not enough to change my opinion on the dish. Alas, I did not finish my meal. Overall, the service was below average, the food poor and overpriced. I have no issues in paying good money for food, but I would expect far better than what Atico Cocina served up. The bright lighting and chart music that was playing did nothing to help the situation.
