In short: Loved my experience at Amy's. She took care to listen to me and get the cut right, and it was reasonably priced. Friendly service too. Called at 3.15pm today (Sunday) and got an appointment for 4.15. Both she and the men in the salon were all smiling and friendly. She asked if I minded waiting ten minutes and I didn't. In this time she gave another woman a quick trim, and one of the men put the cover thing on me and offered me coffee or tea. I read a magazine. I washed and straightened my hair before I came in and printed out a picture of Carly Rae Jepsen as a reference. I already have the straight fringe and hair about her length, but the last time I got it cut I didn't ask for layers so it was looking very boring. My fringe was also getting in my eyes. I told Amy I wanted long layers like the picture but didn't want too much taken off overall. I also told her I want my fringe straightened out but kept below the eyebrows. Note: the amount of hairdressers I've said this to and still ended up with it above the eyebrows is high. I've also had many crooked fringes. Amy cut my hair very quickly, but took care to measure it out against each side to make sure it was even, and held her fingers at the length she was planning on cutting the layers to, to ask me if it was okay first. LOVED that. She asked if I wanted blunt ends or choppy and I said "a bit choppy" and she said "yeah, it's more natural looking that way!" Once the cut was done she asked if I would like her to curl the ends under to look like the picture and I said "sure" so she spent a few minutes with the straighteners. It looks pretty close to the picture! Then she asked if I'd like some product and I said "yes" so she put in Moroccanoil which smoothed down the frizzy bits and added shine. All up it took about 20-25 minutes and she charged me $45. That's about what I am used to paying in Hawkes' Bay for a dry cut, and way less than most of the prices for ladies cuts around. (I was googling before I found this subreddit and most places seemed to be charging $75!). Before I left Amy took my details and told me to come back for a free fringe trim. I am really happy with the cut, the attention to detail, the convenience, and the service.

I've been here for nearly 10 years now and I feel completely satisfied about this place(believe me they're all very good).Amy has been the best hairdresser so far!!! Give them a chance and they won't let you down.

Booked appointment had to wait for 25 minutes when I got there right on time! Brought in a colour photo of what I wanted, hair stylist teased/knotted my hair before colouring which really hurt, the colour and hair colour were nothing like what I wanted (a under colour and I got the ends dyed!) cut my fringe too short and didn't get the treatment I paid for. Also had 3 different stylists which I thought was pretty unprofessional. Had to go to Rodney Wayne to get colour and fringe fixed as it looked terrible! Also salon is about the size of a box! Would not recommend!!!!

Amy's hair salon chemically raped, and butchered my hair with scissors. Even after a $300 keratin smoothing treatment and numerous expensive nourishing treatments it is still literally frazzled. I went in for a digital perm (soft natural looking loose curl perm, aka Korean perm) and came out with permanent chemically straightened frazzled hair. A proper consult was not done (no consult was done), had it been they (and I) would have discovered the digital perm could not be done on my hair. And I got an uneven, short layered, too short fringe, cut too. It's like if you go in for a boob job but they give you a boob reduction... And then make them lopsided. (Granted they didn't charge me and did give me some treatments when I went back to complain. However there was only 5 of them and I can tell they're old as the packaging is discoloured. Javed did step up and gave me a big pottle of something saying he would pay for it. None of this alone would be nearly enough to fix the mess they made. I left when they started heavily blaming me.)

The 'fastfood' of wellington hairdressers. It was crammed full of people, no-one seemed to care about the outcome of the actual haircut or colour. No atmosphere and none of the people working there seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing.

Amazing place, the whole package. People, prices, feel and very organized and efficient. Purchased a voucher from grab one, so happy I did otherwise I wouldn't have found my now 'go to' place. I have been to a few different salons and was never 100 or even 70% satisfied. This place gets so busy, but maintains an environment that flows, and providing awesome results. Unlike other salons, they don't try rush you out the door because they're overwhelmed by volumes of clients etc. Must try this place out!!!!

I'm happy with this place. The hair dressers are really lovely, good at cutting hair and at good prices!
