Crompton Engineering

Crompton Engineering began in 1976 by purchasing the business of Lowther Engineering, a business of some twenty five years standing.

Until the early 90s the business supplied services and products to the buoyant agricultural sector.

During this time Crompton Engineering was also involved in many industrial products: The Marsden B power station, oil refinery expansion, various bridge building projects, and extensive conveyor manufacture for the local fertiliser industry to name but a few.

The local kumara industry over this period has developed from a cash crop for local land owners, into a highly professional industry. And now supplies produce to both the fresh vegetable sector and for processing.

Crompton Engineering has been involved in helping mechanise the process of growing and handling kumara, and as a result has developed a range of equipment now sold more widely.

Also Crompton Engineering has continued to manufacture other lines of machinery for the wider farming industry.

Crompton Engineering is also heavily involved in flood water control with the manufacture of floodgates, headstocks, steel culverts and floodpumps.
