5th September 2015 My car has been in the possession of West Lynn Painters and Panel-Beaters for two weeks without any work having been completed. Here are the facts:
- I dropped off my car after being referred to West Lynn Painters and Panel-Beaters by my insurance company. The receptionist confirmed my details (including my name, car model and registration number, and contact details) and matched them up with the info they had received from my insurer.
- A week later I rang them to check in and see how much longer the repairs would take. They seemed surprised and said that they were "wondering what was going on with that one", as they couldn't find any details that matched up with my car. My insurance company had apparently sent the details through with the wrong number plate - however there was no mention of a problem when I gave my licence plate number to the receptionist. Having recognised this error, they said they would start right away and the repairs should be completed within a week.
- Another week later, I rang again. They said my car should be ready the following day.
- The next day, I rang again. They said it would be ready on Tuesday (four days time). After informing them I am moving to another town on Monday, they said they could have it done by 4pm on Monday.
I should add that my car is a Toyota Corolla, the most common car on the road in NZ, so finding parts should be a doddle. Since correcting the mistake of the insurance company, the car has remained in their possession for 6 working days without any progression.
Cheers, West Lynn Painters and Panel-Beaters, for making the already stressful time of moving all the more stressful.
