The major issue dining at the Lord Nelson is the sheer and score of the almost legendary menu! You will be tempted by numerous dishes and narrowing down your final choices will be a challenge!
15th November 2010 Lord Nelson's is the best, the food is superb and I know that my Father in Law alaways has the same, he will never have anything else. It's definately cosey and staff are always coming by to check up on everything. Never had a problem getting to have dinner when we haven't made a booking. Thankyou Lord Nelson, don't ever leave
6th February 2012 Very good was happy with my CHICKEN BREAST CAMEMBERT , was to die for haha. Reasonable priced about $30. Nice Old school feel place, very traditional, great tasting steak too. Cheers

13th August 2010 I normally avoid restaurants (I don't know) in the vicinity of SkyCity because I think they are pitched at tourists and hence not good value for money.
I was initially attracted by the 'Bluff Oysters' sign outside. This was enough to take a look at the menu to the side of the door to do a quick price check.
My initial feeling was that prices were maybe a couple of bucks dearer than other places that seemed similar.
From the menu, it seemed this was a steakhouse kinda place with plenty of seafood and so my expectation was decent sized meals but not top end cuisine - which is me all over.
The decor seemed kinda cool (English dungeon/castle kinda thing with booth seating) and the staff were nice.
I ordered a dozen battered bluff oysters and paid a very reasonable price ($30-32 when they are $21+ raw from a supermarket or fish market).
I ordered the vegetables and got a huge pile that included almost half a cauliflower (with a reasonable cheese sauce). There were plenty of chips (fries) as well.
Service was friendly and quick.
The oysters were great.
This was a very good dining experience. I'll definitely go back and would recommend to others.

15th July 2010 Great place to come for steak or in my case chicken. Pretty much what you would expect from a steakhouse. I enjoyed it and the service was, fast, friendly and prices reasonable.
