Kingsland's latest star, Taiko Japanese Restaurant and Bar, is humbly tucked away on it's own down a narrow street beside the railway station.
For those who wander down to check the menuboard, a delightful surprise awaits. A hearty "irrashaimase" welcome and truly special service, an extensive menu, an ever-evolving wine and sake list, and delicious authentic Japanese dishes prepared by Master Chef Makoto and a kitchen jammed full with talented Japanese chefs and cooks. Seats 76, and specialises in groups of up to 60. Bookings recommended.

1st September 2010 I went here for a birthday celebration dinner and was very happily suprised. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious. The prawns and sushi were to die for and the lychee Sorbet literally burst in your mouth - the flavour was so incredible. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great - everyone friendly and chatty. You would never guess that a great little restaurant like this would be tucked in right next to the train station but is definitely in my top 5 restaurants I would recommend to visit in Auckland.

24th August 2010 A great place for reasonably priced and delicious food. The seafood (octopus balls especially) is superb. Probably the highlight restaurant of Kingsland.

24th September 2008 I honestly can't get enough of Taiko. It may have to do with the fact their food is the best! If you and your special friend are looking for the perfect meal to share I highly recommend the Taiko Bento.
Great food, great services! Luv it! Def come back!
