24th March 2016 We were recommended that this was the best Vietnamese restaurant in Christchurch. Hell, what a disappointment.
We ordered the chicken curry and the beef and lemon grass dish. First off, we find it strange that rice is an additional price to the mai9n food menu.
The chicken dish was tasty, however, there was an apparent taste of powdered curry that had not been cooked out properly. We are not chefs but good home cooks and picked this up.
The beef dish was not edible. The meat was tough and we were told it was because we let it go cold. A pathetic excuse.
When we confronted the owner on this he refused to budge and we reluctantly paid for the meals.
Not once did we have any wait staff ask us how our meals were. The ambiance was terrible which consisted of a commercial radio on in the background.
We were told they had been in business for 18 years. Well we certainly won't go back and feel the Vietnamese restaurant down the road provides more authentic food although bad service.
I personally will not return to this place and will advise friends it is simply not up to scratch.
