The Bar does allow smoking outside in the courtyard and children are allowed as well. Since there has been a change in chefs, the foodquality has improved massively.

I love this place, can't get enough. Friendly staff and relaxed environment. You have to have the calamari!

A wonderful place to lose yourself for hours in conversation, wine and the hum of others doing the same. The tapas is perfect for lining the stomach, the Rioja a rare find and the host a delight.

Once upon a time there was a wee takeaway joint called Don Bo. I loved it for a long time. Then, one wet Sunday, it disappeared from view and a gaggle of Grey Lynners collectively mourned (if in their own homes and unbeknownst to each other) A few (long) months later, Mondial was born and gourmet joy and order was restored. Using the same fairy light strewn backyard and cramped but cosy ambience, it was transformed into a tapas lover's delight. The portions are pretty good (I recommend 3 - 4 tapas plates between a gently hungry pair of you) and the food is nothing short of mouth watering. If you're confused about what wine to buy, just ask the bartender (his choices are pretty good and, if nothing else, it's a good excuse to hear his accent) In short, as long as you can put your claustrophobia behind you, I recommend you pack up your palate and head here.

my favourite local bar. perfect place for after work drinks... the worries of work melt away as you're transported to another world. well, if not another world, another country. it feels distinctly un-Auckland-y, which is a good thing, and considering it hasn't been there long, feels remarkably old school and authentic. it's conveniently located in grey lynn shops, but not exactly on a strip of popular locales, which is a good thing, as instead of being trendy it feels unfussy and neighbourhoodly. great vibe, great food. wish i was there right now!

I love this bar. It's a perfect taste of france and spain right in the heart of auckland. Yes it is a total pain to get a table, as this place is rammed almost everynight, but doubt you'd get a table if you walked into the local bar in paris either. food is tapas style servings, but mighty tasty. wine list is not extensive, but quality, but overall you're coming here for the buzz. the place rocks. definitely worth giving it a go

Mondial has been a local haunt of ours since it opened. These guys definitely know what they’re doing. The bar/restaurant is relaxed and casual – and although the place is always humming, it consistently maintains that atmosphere. Regulars (and there are many) are greeted warmly by name, drinks quickly poured and complementary nibbles placed nearby. The tapas here are simple but impossible to resist. Many a time we have come here for a quick after work drink … and ended up staying for tapas, Sangria and plenty of Mondial’s addictive conviviality. Long may it continue.

Had a fab night with the girls last night. The food was fantastic! Garlic prawns, tomatoey meat balls, lamb skewers and tuna skewers were fantastic! I totally recommend.

Great Asia fusion menu and a cute little setting. Staff are friendly too. The Laksa Don dishes are a real favourite. I eat here about once a fortnight - it's that good!
