4th July 2009 I have stayed at Thistle guest house for all my requent visits to Christchurch. This is a most conveient place to stay for getting any where. There is off street parking and a bus right near the enterance to Thistle.
In winter its the warmest place ever, theres a guest lounge but if you prefer solitue you have tv clock/radio in your room. There is wifi for a very cheap price and you can get weekly rates which makes it far cheaper than the cheapest internet cafe in Christchurch. Theres electric blankets on the bed if you want to use them.
The kitchen is large and you can cook a full meal and theres all the equipement you need. Theres a good large supermarket three minutes walk (quicker to walk than drive).
Theres a small fee to use a washing machine and dryer. And a free clothes line with pegs to hang washing.
My recommendation is to get room 9 if you want a king bed with room for 2 or 3 kids on matresses. And room 1 if you want a bathroom. I am in room 1 for a month and its great.
There are resturants within a short distance, one is just a 100m away. About 400 m away theres a medium size shopping centre.
Quiet and comfortable room only or B&B. Guest kitchen available.
Single from $50 per night, double twin from $70 per night two people, triple $85 per night, ensuite double $80 per night two people.
Continental breakfast $8 per person.
Weekly and long term rates on application.
Close to shops, supermarkets, restaurant, University of Canterbury and Col of Ed.
On bus routes to City-Hornby-Lincoln (81, 83, 84) Halswell and New Brighton (MetroStar). Orbiter close by.
Free pick-up from airport (10mins), railway (7mins) or city bus (15mins) by prior arrangement.
