The Grouse offers 10 modern hotel rooms, breakfast, lunch and dinner, a large garden bar, TAB, gaming machines, courtesy vans, a pool tables, live music on a Saturday and country pub surroundings.
1st July 2012 I must completely disagree with the previous review as i think the food and service we recieved was fabulous. My wife and i went in for dinner and was greeted by a warm and friendly waitress who not only made sure our order was taken promtly but we also never had to ask for a drink as they were always on hand to assist. My wife ordered the fish of the day and i had the steak which were both cooked to perfection and as for the desert we both struggled to choose from the great choice but ended up deciding on the cheesecake which was great, oh and i also forgot to mention that the starters we recieved were a great start to a great evening out. The only other thing i wish to add is that i found the whole experience fantastic and my wife and i will definatley be dining there again soon because the atmosphere in the pub was very warm and welcoming.
Welcome to the new and improved Famous Grouse Hotel!!
After the earthquake of September 4th 2010 and consequent demolition of the iconic Famous Grouse Hotel we are back and better than ever. We offer hotel accommodation, a large main bar and garden bar along with a and separate restaurant that is serving up fabulous gastro pub grub all day!
Our modern 10 room accommodation is available for bookings along with hire of the conference room and facilities. We also have two courtesy vans and can offer airport pickups/drop offs and laundry service.
Come down grab a beer and take a look at our fabulous new and improved bar or maybe enjoy a deli style lunch from our new food cabinet or listen to some local live music every Saturday night!
3rd July 2016 stayed 3 days end june 2016. restaurant and staff were good, accommodation was not. no noise insulation and when they changed kegs for 35 mins at 11pm it was like they were doing it in the bathroom. band on sat night till 1.15am then kegs again. complained to manager and was told he didn't care. two members of our group ( we had all the rooms booked out) left the hotel and stayed in a local motel. for a 5 yr old hotel, it was drab and dated. Poor lighting in rooms, king bed was two singles pushed together with ridge in middle. breakfast had to be taken in room as restaurant did open till 8am. not good for group bookings it is just a booze barn and should close the accommodation

18th July 2016 We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We all enjoyed having your group to stay and don't recall anyone leaving to stay at the local motel, everyone's rooms remained occupied for the whole stay. We received many compliments from your group but unfortunately none from yourself, quite the opposite. Our breakfast menu is available from 7am so we're not sure where you got your information from. Our hotel is only 5 years old and definitely not dated, maybe you would have enjoyed your time at the motel instead?

6th August 2012 Overall the experience was nice, the staff weren't great but they weren't bad. Our orders were taken very promptly, we had the samosas and spring roll starter, they were just the from the box type. I had the apricot filo and my partner had the steak, they were both lovely and he really enjoyed being able to pick his sides and sauce. I think that the restaurant section needs to be separated from the pub as there were 2 rugby teams in the pub who were quite loud. I would definitely go back, just in more casual clothes.

21st December 2011 Lovely new building but unfortunatly the food lets you down!
Even after you had been told your meals are too small you still served up the same size! One chicken breast with bacon and 2 small potato halves, a couple of bits of kumura do not make a meal!
Not only was it too small but unappealing in appearance as it was all the same colour...With all the seasonal vegies around at the moment I`m sure you could have added some nice salad!
The dessert was a let down also...Hot steamed pudding with home made custard and the Famouse Grouse ice cream. What a joke it was nearly cold and the custard was so thin it poured off the spoon like flavoured milk! The ice cream was just like any cheap budget vanilla...Our main waitress was neither rude nor pleasant...I dont think she smiled once while she was serving us...The other 2 that helped out were just lovely though! I did like my coffee but the hot chocolate was awful... After eating all 3 courses we should have been full...But if we had of been passing a maccas on the way home I would have popped in for burger to fill me up! I did like the entree though! But that was all so sadly we wont be back!
