Blue Mountain Lumber Ltd is a subsidiary of Ernslaw One Limited. Located just a stones throw from our very own world class Douglas-fir forest in Otago's Blue Mountains. Built originally in 1949 by the Forest Service, the mill was purchased by Ernslaw One Limited in November 1990. Since then the mill has seen significant improvements made to its sawmill and processing capabilities.
Blue Mountain Lumber is the single biggest producer of Douglas-fir timber in the South Island, producing 45,000m3 of New Zealand’s finest structural timber, Blue Mountain Oregonz.
Unlike its competitors, Blue Mountain Lumber is in the enviable position of having its own guaranteed supply of Douglas-fir logs. Douglas-fir or NZO as it's commonly known, has strength and stiffness benefits over other pine plantation species and that's why Blue Mountain Lumber only cuts Douglas-fir.
