22nd November 2010 I decided to try bill fish cafe out after seeing it in the viva section in the nz herald. What a suprise.. The place is hidden away and it was a little difficult to find.. I sat on the balcony overlooking the fishermen watering down their boat after a day out fishing. This place must be really nice in the evening with the view of the harbour bridge. The chef accomodated my request for non beer batter fish which was nice as a few places I have requested at have declined. I had to move inside as it can get cold by the warf, but i saw a pile of blankets stacked outside so i think they are prepared for this. I enjoyed the live entertainment. Lots of magazines to read. Mochacinno could be better though. But will go back. Nice place to hang out out on a hot summers day.
1st April 2012 We went to Billfish for a lazy Sunday breakfast.
Not only did we experience poor wait service (had to ask for drinks, to be served and repeated our order 3 times), but had watery weak coffee and were made to feel uncomfortable and ashamed when we came to pay (as they dont split bills and 'neither do 90% of cafes in NZ'.
We explained that 3 of us had breakfast while one had coffee, so it was our preferably and normal way of paying. Not only did the brightly shirted owner raise his voice about the difficulty, he continued to comment on the hassle and tried overcharging us by $11.
The food was tasty but the combination of service, coffee and being told we were painful will mean we wont come back or recommend it.

26th September 2010 Our party of six were the only mid week dinner guests and we will not return. The poor waiting service made this a a venue to avoid.

11th September 2010 We stumbled across this hidden secret whilst walking around Westhaven, right on the waterfront and the best fish and chips and seafood chowder.
Live music on a Sunday afternoon.
