19th September 2012 After being dragged up and down Broadway we found ourselves here and were pleasantly surprised.
The Staff were attentive and I had a much needed beer in my hand, just minutes after walking in.
I also had pizza which was on a thin base and one of the best I have had in a long time, and my partner had beef salad that looked great.
We had a great spot in the sun which charged our batteries for another trip up Broadway.
Obviously this place has improved since the last reviews and I will definitely be back again to try the other pizzas.
Situated in New Market, Auckland, Lumsden is an indulgent cafe/bar that can caters for that well needed after work drink and dinner.
From tiger prawns to 'loaded nachos', the tapas at Lumsden is simply delectable and perfect as an accompaniment to a drink, or entree to one of their gourmet pizza's or salad mains. The gourmet pizza's include the extravagant Pear and blue cheese Pizza and the vegetarian Kalamata Olive Pizza. They also offer a kids menu and scrumptious desserts.
With parking near by and planety of seating outside. The Lumsden is easily accessible and perfect for private functions.
1st February 2015 WORST SERVICE EVER!!! LAZY!!! RACIST!!! STAFF.
I am not a person to write a review unless it was really good or really really trully bad and horrible.
I was so disgusted with their service and how they treat a customer.
The bar has a great atmosphere and It's a such a shame to have such a lazy, racist staffs.
I asked to be served and was totally ignored by all four staffs for over 10mins. and it wasn't even busy.
one lazy blonde waitress was sitting at the bar folding napkin and told me to ask someone else on the other side of the bar for service.
and I was totally ignored by that other staffs as well for another 5mins. he finally told me to go back to the other side of the bar again and wait to be served while he serves other customers.
I went back to the other end of the bar again and was finally served by that lazy waitress and only reason she stood up was there were another lady waiting to be served. she stood right up as soon as that other lady came to the bar and greeted her with smile. when I complained to the manager he actually said 'If you don't like our service don't come back'
Yea I will never ever go back to that place again and DO NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!

16th November 2010 This bar is terrible!!! I was there at a private function and the bartender made me a drink which did not taste like anything close to what it should have, probably by the lack of experience from the bartender. When telling them that the drink did not taste how it should of, if made correctly. Both bartenders argued with me and thought I was an idiot when clearly those knuckle heads didn't know what they were doing. They had no customer service skills and were rude on how they dealt with the situation.. to whoever owns that bar, change your bartenders!!!

6th September 2010 It took a number of minutes to be acknowledged as we waited to be seated. Unfortunately there was also a large noisy family group at the next table and lots of kids running around.
Our waitress was very attentive however and looked after us well. The entree of salt and pepper squid was not what I expected. It was dry and had no fine cornflour coating. They did offer two options though, beer battered, or plain, so perhaps this was my misunderstanding.
The vegetarian pizza with olives and feta was good though, with a nice thin base and we enjoyed our beers and wine.

6th September 2010 Place lacked in atmosphere but had heaps of potential to be be better. Music was super quiet and high pitched, could not mask the screams of the children running around the tables. Meals were ok. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

6th September 2010 Pretty disappointing, the food was very average and we had a long wait to be seated despite the fact that we had a booking.
The waitress was very accommodating, just a shame that the food wasn't up to scratch.
