We run regular promotions that keep our loyal customers interested on both the bar and restaurant sides of the business. Whether you're a member of our weekly Beer Club on a Thursday, like us for an after-work drink on a Friday or want to kick your heels up to live music on a Saturday night, we've got something for you.
House opened in March 2010 after two months of renovations, and decades of head scratching. Originally built in 1915 as Hamilton's Grand Central Hotel the building has many stories to tell. A one-time doss pad for military folk, it may or may not have spent some time as a house of ill repute. In 2008 the Phoenix Group got hold of the site and set about developing it.
General staff were pleasant and helpful but I am not sure what planet the staff in the kitchen were on. For entree we ordered the Corn Fritters with a Tomato Aoli (tasted identical to the fritters) which had so much sugar added to them they were pretty horrible. We ordered the Angus Steak and Cheese Pie, Pork Parmagiana and Fish Pie. The steak pie was served luke warm and the fries were chewy. Had to send it back along with Pork Parmagiana only to wait 40 minutes for a replacement meanwhile everyone else got to eat. The pie was average. For some reason the kitchen put the food (including wet coleslaw) on a paper towel so when you attempted to eat it you got chunks of paper on the fork. Seriously? The plates are a lame attempt to be trendy using camping plates that slide all over the table when attempting to eat the meal and totally impractical. The Parmagiana was also sent back as we requested the sauce on the side but instead they served it with no sauce and a side. $160 later and very disappointed. In summary this place is "trying hard" but not succeeding.
