22nd August 2015 We used to live in Ellerslie and relocated to Onehunga 8 years ago, and after trying out numerous Indian restaurants in our newly adopted home and the surrounding suburbs, we couldn't find one which could compare with our favourite Ellerslie Indian restaurant.
Because of this we would drive to Ellerslie everytime we wanted Indian takeaway, this was until a few weeks ago. . .
We had driven past this place for 2 years without even knowing it was there, one night I noticed it and suggested to my wife we must try this place out as we had tried every other establishment so had nothing to lose.
As with any restaurant or hotel, I read the reviews this establishment had, albeit very limited, on another website.
Satisfied with what I had read, It was time to make our first takeaway order.
We ordered conservatively and got the typical kiwi favourite butter chicken with rice (mild), butter naan and a cheesy garlic naan.
This was what we had been looking for all along, it didn't just compare with our Ellerslie regular but raised the standard even higher and instantly became our new favourite.
This meal fed both of us comfortably, and is the best we have ever had hands down.
Fully exceeded our expectations and we will be trying out other items on the menu in due course.
Staff were very friendly and the owner was extremely passionate about his food and premises.
We won't be going anywhere else anytime soon, highly recommend it
18th July 2017 We bought a Grab One voucher for $29 for two that included 2 mains and one platter. Paid additional $9 as we had a BYO wine and naan bread. The staff was behaving quite oddly since the beginning as if we came there for free food whereas they were really nice to other customers who weren't on Grab One. We somehow didn't pay much attention to their weird customer service and continued eating. We could't finish a one full chicken curry bowl and rice as we were genuinely quite full especially because the non-veg platter had a lot of fried food in it that filled us up quickly. We knew that take away of left over food wasn't allowed as per the conditions of the Grab one offer so we called the staff and said that is there a way that she could allow us to take this for a charge. At first she refused then said "if you are really keen you can pay $8 and take it away". We were surprised as the take-away charge at any other Indian restaurant is normally $1 or $2. We said but that's too much price for left over food but she refused to budge. I then asked her what will she do with this food, she said "we will just throw this in the bin". At this point my husband and I again requested that if shes doesn't want us to take it, this food can be given to someone in need but she bluntly refused. I am really surprised at this poor staff attitude. Sorry but we aren't going there again, never ever again!
