I enjoy this place and have come here frequently this year. I find it convenient since it's just across the road from Christchurch Polytech where I study. I find the meals value for money compared to other Indian restaurants and takeaways. They have a selection of deals and combos to choose from depending on how peckish you are and your budget.
Jyoti also provide a variety of curries depending on the day. Some days they will have certain curries such as Mango Chicken or Lamb Tikka. But they always have the usual staple favourites of Lamb Madras, Butter Chicken or vegetable curry. They have a selection of plain, cheese and garlic naan which is made fresh in front of you. The staff make them fresh so they come out piping hot and taste delicious.
The staff are friendly and very polite. I find that they have a passion for their food and try to accommodate where they can. Jyoti unfortunately is at a small cafeteria-like place. Their utensils are not styley dinner plates but are plain canteen plates with spaces for your food. Their plastic utensils do the job and there is usually enough chairs and room to sit down and eat inside during lunch(12-1 pm). After lunchtime there is usually enough room to have a place to sit down. However some may find the space to be a bit tight for their liking and might prefer to have their lunch at the CPIT campus lawn across the road. Jyotis food is available for takeaway.
Jyoti does a fantastic job and I would live to give them five stars. They have delicious food, friendly staff, a reasonable variety of food and they're value for money. Unfortunately their venue location may limit peoples comfort and their food presentation is not fantastic. However this does not bother me and I fully enjoy eating at Jyotis.
