Raffles College of Design & Commerce - RCDC (formerly Raffles Design Institute) is a registered education provider based in Auckland providing courses in Design, Photography & Business.
2nd November 2012 I had an interview with Raffles to have a look at applying for their Graphic Design Diploma. The admissions person was friendly and helpful, but when introduced to who I assume was the faculty leader, he spent the entire remaining time putting down my previous tertiary education provider, and how the standard of work from where I had previously studied was far beneath theirs. This I found extremely offending because I'd been to one of the top private design schools. He then proceeded to tell me that it's all very well to produce students who can 'get a job', but in order to get something more worth while, they were the place to be. I was told that I wouldn't 'understand' what their academic and theory modules to their courses were, because of the previous institution that I had studied with. So instead of encouraging me to study with them, and helping to inspire me, it was all about how they were 'far superior' to my previous educational providers. All and all, I was unimpressed with their so called 'high standard' of student work, and the experience was simply unpleasant. Henceforth I will be returning to the educational provider that I had previously studied with, and not even giving this one a second thought. --Very disappointed.
