Breathtakingly beautiful...Old St Paul's is one of New Zealand's greatest heritage buildings, and is one of the finest examples of wooden Gothic Revival architecture in the world. A Wellington icon, this 1866 Gothic church is built entirely of native timber and features stunning stained glass and wooden carvings. No longer a parish church but still consecrated, Old St Paul's remains a place of spiritual significance to many and is living testimony to one of New Zealand's greatest heritage battles when the diocese tried to dismiss the church that had served them for 98 years. It is a well-loved venue for weddings, concerts and many other cultural events. All year around Christmas shop and gift shop - Exhibition - Guided Tours Open: 7 days, 9.30am-5pm. Closed Christmas Day and for short periods during special functions.
